This is the official Aborted website I designed with vocalist, and graphic artist, Sven de Caluwe using artwork from the band’s recent EP “Coronary Reconstruction.”
My job on this project was to convert Sven’s website design into a fully functional WordPress theme, while also making the site very easy to navigate and maintain.
The biggest problem with this project was the size of the artwork I had to work with. The full size of the header, footer and background was well over 8 megs, so I went to work resizing and compressing for many hours until I’d compressed the site to below 600k. Once resized I went to work on the layout and functional aspects of the site.
The website features advertising for all of the band’s merchandise designs, an ability to order items from the band’s North American or European merchandisers, tour dates, discography, blog, news, audio, video and photo galleries.
Although converting Sven’s design into a website was a challenge, the finished product turned out much better than expected and it’s something he’s very pleased with. As am I!
